Oh what a lovely pair of quilting bee blocks (if I do say so myself, ha ha)!

This is an improvisational (right angle ~ she did not want wonky) blockfor Jenninfer ~ Not Your Grandmas Quilting Bee ~

made using this terrific tutorial over HERE at The Sometimes Crafter.

Once I made up one I was easily able to create my own improvised block…

but wish I would not have run out of the Kona white fabric

so I could have added a horizontal strip of white to the top of the block.

Its funny that I sort of dread (and procrastinate) sitting down to work on bee blocks

but once I actually start, I have a jolly good time sewing them up.

You would think I would have learned to look forward to it after all of these months, right???

I just received some lovely Hope Valley DS fabrics for some dresden blocks to make for the NYGQB December blocks ~

I am so looking forward to tackling those little cuties for Valerie 😀

Happy quilting,

Oh La La ~ I am so loving the French General Fabrics in red, white, and linen!

Ohio Star block one …

and block 2 made for Jaleh — Not Your Grandma’s Quilting Bee.

I am totally inspired to make a mini holiday quilt like this one HERE

from the Lumiere de Noel holiday fabric line from French General

and maybe even a Christmas throw quilt to match!

Sigh…so many lovely fabrics

yet “sew” little time to use them all ;D

Happy sewing,

I haven’t been blogging…

because I have been quilting like mad!

Block 1 of 4 for the embroider_bee.

Here is a close up of the embroidery.

Pattern is “Scoot” from comforstitching HERE.

I even got a “Wow!  You made that???” from my Hubby!

Jessica asked for a wintry/Scandinavian theme using red green and a touch of aqua.

Only 3 more blocks to make for this bee by the end of the month…

but on the upside, I am FINISHED with all six of my blocks for the 3X6 mini sampler bee!

red, pink, and aqua for Frieda

(this one is begging to stay with me…also my colors for this round!)

red, pink, and gray for my sweet pal Jane!

gray, orange, and white for our “Hive Mama” Penny

(who happens to be a blogland/flickr rock star!  I’m a bit intimidated to send this one…it is far from perfect.)

“make it a rainbow” for Terrie

(hope this is colorful enough!)

pink, yellow, and white for Lisa

orange, red, and white for Angela.

Phew I am wiped!

I had a hard time getting inspired on a block to make for this bee.

The blocks that get turned out by all the gals are fantastic!

Last week when I was flipping through the Gaiam catalog

I came across this “Shaker Square Patchwork Quilt” HERE

and instantly new I wanted to make a block using little squares.

I sat down with a pencil and some paper and figured up some dimensions…

and whatta ya know ~ it worked :p

I think one more row (to make 16 squares) would make a lovely little wall hanging/doll quilt.

R. is completely in LOVE with this block and wants me to make her a quilt for her bed using it

we’ll have to see ;D

I’m about half way there with my quilting bees/swaps

I better sew sew sew and then sew some more!

Happy quilting,

I am so sorry for not being “around” much on my blog right now…

but we’ve been having way to much FUN this summer to just be cooped up inside sewing ;0)

But I did make some time this morning to get caught up

on Mollie’s July Block for the Red and Aqua Bee 2!

I can’t tell you how much I LOVE this paper pieced block

(even though I really DISLIKE paper piecing!)

She sent us all a bunch of fabrics an then asked us to choose our favorites for the block.

I think I might have to track down the fabrics I selected to use for my month ;0)

And just to TOOT my own horn, ha ha, look at how perfect my center is!!!

I hope she likes it and I can’t wait to see her finished quilt.

Off to see a play tonight…have I mentioned how much I LOVE summer???

Happy quilting,
