UHG Swap Projects September 13, 2010

Yay, I can finally reveal the projects I made for the Urban Home Goods Swap 😀

My secret swap partner was Kirsten (three dancing magpies) and we actually know each other!

I was at her house a couple of weeks ago and she flat-out asked me who her partner for the swap was, and like a bumbling idiot I made up a really lame story, and kept changing the subject every time she brought it up.

Ha, ha I am a horrible fibber ;p

Knowing my swap partner made it all the more fun and inspiring!

The first goodie I made for her is this (main)/Heather Ross(handle and lining) wristlet.

The pattern is “Wristlets Three Ways” from Oh Fransson.

Then I cut into my beloved Nani Iro fabric to make the “Lis iPhone Holder” from flossieteacakes HERE.

I cross stitched a fancy “O” on it just in case somebody else had one JUST like it, ha ha.

And here is the back side…it even has a little credit card slot.

I have got to make up one of these for me!

And last, but CERTAINLY not least…this fabulous “Lickity Split” tablerunner!

All of the lovely fabrics in the blocks were selected by Tasha (a little sweetness) and the really cute ones can be ordered in her lovely little Etsy shop HERE ~ thanks Tasha!

The pattern is from Rachel Griffith’s (p.s. i quilt) Etsy shop HERE.

It was super snappy to piece together…but the quilting and binding took quite a while.

I barely got this in the mail by the swap deadline (literally finished it at 2pm that day!)

Phew!

Now to start planning for my next two swaps…

Happy Monday,

Colette

Sewing Loft Inspirations May 3, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — The Threaded Nest @ 9:45 am

We spent the weekend painting and organizing up in my sewing loft.

I was inspired by the colors in this gorgeous quilt (pictured above) made by Kerri (blogged at lovely little handmades here).

Lime, orange, and aqua ~ how fresh!

I would love to have my loft completely redecorated YESTERDAY…

I know, I know, I must practice some PATIENCE (I really have very little of it).

An accent wall in my loft was painted a lovely shade of lime green

and I have plans to paint R.’s table and chairs in orange

and recover the top with some Amy Butler laminated cotton here.

Ha, ha D. bought me the nice chest of drawers to hold my fabrics and such

AND wouldn’t ya know…one of the drawer fronts was not drilled so he had to order a new piece for it.

MUST I really learn patience now ~ ARGHHH???

The walls are so bare, but I’ll have fun making a little mini quilt (with this fabric here) and some stiching to put up.

My parents were so sweet to go to IKEA and buy THIS chair in light blue for my sewing desk and send it to me =0)

And what will my chair need???

Why a modern pillow to liven up the room of course!

Aren’t these pillows (more on these here) just frickin’ beautiful???

I want one too!

I’ve joined this Pillow Talk Swap Round 3 and hope to have a pillow to decorate my space soon!

If you are interested in joining the swap hurry over here today as it is the last day to join!

Happy sewing,

Colette

Mischievous Gnome Messenger Bag March 10, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — The Threaded Nest @ 5:04 am

Sarah’s Messenger Bag, originally uploaded by dawntastic.

I am totally in love with this messenger bag (blogged here)! Of course the lovely bird fabric is from Kokka’s Echino collection (my latest fabric obsession) and the pattern is the “Mischievous Gnome Messenger Bag” from Sew Liberated (here).

I also love the way Meg from Sew Liberated made her bag in the Heather Ross “Gnomes” fabric.  The “Gnomes” fabric from Free Spirit has been out of print for a while and sells on Etsy for almost $50 a yard!  So when Heather Ross announced (here) that she would be reworking some of her most popular fabrics in new colors and textures and putting them on Spoonflower (here), I just had to get some of the “Gnomes” in plum (not sure why its not for sale on Spoonflower anymore???) quilting weight cotton!

R. fell in love with these gnomes and wants me to make her a messenger bag for Christmas…I just might do that and make mine up in one of the Echino prints (???)…decisions decisions!  I had hoped to get a couple of yards of this gnome fabric to make some comfy pajama pants, but it is not soft and thin like the Free Spirit fabric (I am certainly not complaining!)

Hoping to find the time to work up a quick bag to take on our trip to D.C.!

Happy sewing,

Colette
