Block O’ Strings May 6, 2010

I have been in quilting ZEN up in my new sewing loft!

A “block o’ strings” for Janet (Not Your Grandmas Quilting Bee) from the p.s. i quilt tutorial HERE.

Finding new blocks to sew makes me very happy =0)

This one is SUPER easy, a bit time consuming,

BUT I found piecing it to be VERY…relaxing???

Ha ha, I know right?

I added a bit of my own fabric here and there to the scraps left from the “Map of the States” (blogged here) block.

I didn’t have any quilt basting spray

so I used freezer paper and a thin flour sack towel (of the kitchen variety) as a pressing cloth

(I used my new iron and I wasn’t sure if the freezer paper would wreck it???  Do you know?)

AND I have to say it worked MARVELOUSLY!!!

The fabric lightly adheres to the freezer paper and lays down nice and flat for smooth sewing.

Borrowed Jeni B’s creative packaging

and off it will go with today’s mail.

Enjoy Janet!

Happy sewing,

Colette
