or searching for gnomes…
or inside cuddling…
her baby can go with her!
R. and I sewed this Mei Tai doll wrap up on Valentine’s together (gift number 9). I just couldn’t bring myself to hide away from her on Saturday when I knew she would have so much fun helping me! She insisted on using soft flannel (soft yes, but very thick and not fun to work with) for the straps, lovely green fairy fabric (Morning Flower Fairy Garden Apple from spiceberrycottage), and “her” lime green thread for the top-stitching.
I followed the pdf pattern that I purchased from purplelizarddesign’s Etsy shop. The directions are a bit intimidating at first glance (lots of words!) but if you just dig in you will probably find you barely need them as the photo’s are great. The instructions give you the option to do a pieced together front (inside photos) or just a plain front (outside photos), and as R. discovered if you do the pieced front it is “reversible and you can wear it both ways”.
I am super excited to share (thanks Molly for sending me the link to this site!) that R. and I will making and donating a Mei Tai doll wrap to Stitching Hope (hopefully this week if weather permits a trip to the fabric store!) where it will be sold and the proceeds will go directly to Heifer International where it will be used to help the rebuilding and recovery efforts over in Haiti. Please visit Katherine’s (and she is so nice!) Stitching Hope web site for more information on donating or purchasing items.
